Every now and then, a tool comes along that you just can't do without.
The reason that I created this tool was for that very purpose.
I just couldn't find the tool that I wanted, that worked exactly the way that I thought it should.
It started out as an Lha/Lzx unarchiver, but as time went on, I guess
that kinda changed.
As I progressed with the program, I added features that would let you examine files just by dropping them onto the Drop_Zone Icon.
I will explain fully below, but to put it all in a nutshell, I just wanted something that would be my helper.
I wanted something that would stay out of my way.
I wanted something that was tight and could be depended upon.
I wanted something that was small and could be ran independant of everything else without interferance.
Now, here we go:
Welcome to Drop_Zone!!!
When this program is started, it places a menu item in the menu bar called "Drop_Zone".
To begin, just choose this menu item and a Drop_Zone icon is placed on your workbench screen.
Be sure to have Lha and Lzx installed in your C directory if you're planning on using this program to unarchive files.
To unarchive files, just drop them onto the Drop_Zone icon.
Yes, you can drop multiple files onto it!!!
A requester then pops up asking you where to put the unarchived file(s), but it asks you the destination for each file.
So you have total control in this program.
It does not unarchive them anywhere except where you want them unarchived.
The default directory is Ram Disk:
This program automatically detects whether it is an Lha or an Lzx file so you don't have to worry about that either.
Next:
This program makes extensive use of Multiview.
Multiview comes with every Amiga, so you don't have to worry about that either.
Try dropping anything onto Drop_Zone!!!
Hidden files too.
So you say, I dropped something onto it and it didn't do anything.
That's easy.
If you drop a file onto Drop_Zone that is a Jpeg picture and it doesn't do anything, that's because you don't have a Jpeg datatype.
If you drop a wave sound file onto Drop_Zone and nothing happens, that's because you don't have a wave datatype.
Yep, that's right. This program is expandable.
You want more action?
Add more datatypes.
I cannot say enough how useful that this program is.
It's always there, waiting for you to drop something onto it and it's always out of your way.
Whatever Multiview does, this program does and more!!!
As an added bonus, this program has a requester mode.
Everything can be done through requesters if for some odd reason, you get tired of dropping things.
Just double click on Drop_Zone.
It asks you if you want to go to requester mode.
If you choose yes, the next time you double click on it, the world of requesters is in your power.
If you are in requester mode and want to go back to Icon mode, just drop an Icon onto it and it is automatically in icon mode again.
Next note:
This program is not restricted in any way.
Although this program is of a commercial quality, it is also free.
No Restrictions at all!!!
